Fireplace Installation Technician – Troy
Location: 31 Adams St, Troy, NY – This position will require travel on a daily basis. The travel will be primarily to installation locations in all types of weather. Travel may also be required on occasion to attend training programs that require an overnight(s) stay.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30am – 4:00pm with a half hour break for lunch. Must be available to work both regular and extended business hours. Flexibility is necessary in order to complete the scheduled work each day. Sept 1st– Dec 31st, must be able to work Mon-Sat, scheduled work on Saturdays 7:30am – 12pm with a work week ranging from 40-50 hours.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fireplace Installation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and servicing a wide range of fireplaces, stoves, inserts, and related products in residential and commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Install gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces, stoves, and inserts in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
- Perform venting, gas line connections, electrical wiring, framing, and finish work as needed.
- Inspect installation sites and ensure all necessary preparations and measurements are taken.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operational issues with installed units.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain the installation process and answer questions.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and passes inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including photos, service notes, and material usage.
- Keep tools and company vehicles clean, organized, and in proper working condition.
- Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other technicians, sales staff, and project managers to ensure timely and successful project completion.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or HVAC certification is a plus).
- Previous experience in fireplace installation, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with gas piping, venting systems, and basic electrical work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and in a variety of indoor/outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass background check.
Preferred Certifications
- NFI (National Fireplace Institute) Certification or willingness to obtain.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 175 lbs. Must be able to work at elevated locations, including on a ladder and a roof. Must be able to move up and down stairs.
- Must be able to work outdoors during the entire year.
- Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in construction environments.
