Freestanding Wood Pellet Stoves

Pellet stoves are among the most efficient stoves on the market today. These heating stoves burn wood pellets, which are typically made of recycled wood and other organic materials like nutshells and wood chips.

Best Fire Hearth & Patio offers a large selection of pellet stoves from brands such as Eco-Choice, Harman, and Quadra-Fire. Our entire staff is certified through the National Fireplace Institute (NFI), with services ranging from design and installation to repair and maintenance. We work hard to ensure you feel confident with the quality of the products we sell and the team contributing to the safety and success of your project.

Running on convenient and cheap wood pellets, these freestanding heating stoves are perfect for homeowners or business owners looking to reduce their heating costs without the need for a chimney. Pellet stoves allow you to bring a traditional or modern design into your living space with high performance capabilities. It’s as easy as filling the hopper with pellets, setting the thermostat, sitting back, and getting cozy.

Efficiently Warm Your Home with Clean Burning Fuel

Unlike traditional wood stoves, pellet stoves burn cleanly with no creosote buildup. These heating appliances feature higher heating efficiency and combustion than traditional wood stoves. Stoves certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) typically offer efficiencies of 70% to 83% or more, with heating capacities from 8,000 to 90,000 BTU per hour.

When you buy a qualifying freestanding pellet stove, you can take advantage of the federal tax credit for biomass stoves. This allows you to get a credit of 30% or up to $2,000 per year to offset your purchase and installation costs.

Venting Options

Proper ventilation is critical, which is why professional installation is strongly recommended. Because these heating stoves burn wood pellets as their fuel source, proper venting ensures the indoor air remains clean and safe. Best Fire takes all local codes and regulations into account when installing the stove and choosing the right spot to vent the flue. Our team will select flue placement through the roof or a side wall. We will also ensure plenty of fresh air comes into the room to maintain air quality, proper operation, and safety.

Efficiency and Maintenance

These efficient stoves offer easy use and incredible energy savings. Additionally, you can buy pellets in 40-pound bags or by the ton. Both options offer significant cost savings compared to fossil fuels. This means that not only are you increasing your home’s energy efficiency with zone heating, but you are also saving on fuel sources.

Because pellets burn cleanly, they also produce less ash. Pellets offer low emissions and can help reduce carbon emissions when you choose them over fossil fuels. You can expect some ongoing maintenance, like emptying the ash pan daily and cleaning it weekly. You will also need to periodically check the igniter and brush the vents and vacuum the fans each week to extend the life of the stove.

Selecting and Storing Wood

The pellets you choose can affect the performance of your pellet stove. In general, softwood pellets offer more heating power than hardwood because of the resins in softwood, which provide higher heating values. Whether the pellets are labeled premium or not, it’s helpful to consider the heat output — the higher the better. Additionally, look for pellets with a moisture content of 6.5% or less and a volume of 0.6% ash content or less. Select pellets free of bark or additives like cardboard and glue for a hotter burn with less ash.

How you store your pellets can also make a significant difference in performance. Ideally, store them in an airtight plastic container, away from moisture. When pellets get wet, they degrade and won’t burn well. As a result, they can clog the stove’s hopper.

Eco-Friendly Products

Wood pellets are created from sawdust and recycled wood. Using them as a fuel source helps prevent wood items, including pellets, from ending up in landfills. Additionally, choosing a freestanding pellet can help reduce emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that for every ton of pellets burned in place of fossil fuels, carbon emissions are reduced by 1.5 tons.

Heating on Energy Saver

Energy saver mode allows you to save even more energy. When you use this feature on your pellet stove, it will turn off when the room reaches the desired temperature. Once the temperature falls below the value you establish in the settings, it will turn back on and resume heating the space. This helps conserve pellet consumption while keeping stable temperatures for savings and comfort.
